Christopher Lee Tate, age: 41, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 21, 2020, unexpectedly. Growing up, Chris was a talented athlete. He loved basketball and football. After high school, Chris decided to go to college at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He, later on, became a youth pastor in Kentucky. After Chris's mom became ill, he moved back to Knoxville, TN to be with her and start a family.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Rose of Knoxville, TN; grandparents, Arlis and Valeria Hurn of Florence, AL and Arlie and Jewel Tate of Killen AL. He is also proceeded in death by the mother of his two oldest daughters, Tiffany Tate.
Chris is survived by his father, Randall Tate of Florence AL; older sister, Tracie (Josh) Lowe of Knoxville TN; three daughters, Gracie, Ella, Colbie Tate; his only son, Brodie Tate of Knoxville, TN; four nephews, Hayden, Hudson, Holden, and Hanson Lowe all of Knoxville, TN; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris had many special people in his life, Bri Tate (mother of Colbie and Brodie); Rene’ Ricks, Tara Paris and many others.
Chris enjoyed going to the movies as much as possible, watching football and basketball and loved candy, but most importantly, Chris loved being with his children and teaching and mentoring people throughout life.
Chris was a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. Although the timing of all this was so unexpected and sad, we are happy to know that he is with our Lord and Savior and reunited with his mom and grandparents.
There will be a celebration of life service on Thursday, October 29, at 6 pm at Sevier Heights Baptist Church, North Campus. The address is 2939 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. At this time, all we ask for are your prayers for Chris’ children and our families.
